Offshore Oil & Gas Industry

Desalinized water is required on offshore oil & gas platforms and FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) systems, for potable water and various production processes. Due to the limited footprint available on these platforms and FPSO’s, the industry dictates that smaller pre-treatment solutions are required instead of conventional media filters.

Pilot test carried out on Aqua-Sol’s V.V.F technology confirmed that, at higher velocities the V.V.F technology will reduce SDI (Silt Density Index) levels low enough for use on Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems. The V.V.F’s ability to operate at higher velocities means that smaller vessels can be installed and therefore reducing the overall footprint of the system, saving space and money.

V.V.F technology is now being utilized as part of sulphate removal systems and desalination plants onboard various offshore applications.
